How to Tap Into Your Drive to Write More and Write Better

We all have one, yet it's not often that you can make use of it while you're writing.

Your sex drive. How often are you wholeheartedly tapping into it when not in the bedroom?

I'm not talking about writing romance novels or erotica. This is something you can do when you're posting your latest blog entry.

How? The short and dirty answer: By being fully engaged in what you're doing.

This means working from all your drives, not just your intellectual drive.

Most people who sit down to write start out of the wrong foot because they're only devoting a small fraction of their human capacity towards the task before them.

Intellect is the very tip of the iceberg.

Think about what really matters to you in life. Make a brief mental list of the important nouns in your life: people, places, things and ideas that mean a lot to you. Do you limit your engagement with these nouns to an intellectual one? Of course not. You may have a great intellectual relationship with your romantic partner, but I would venture to suggest that a great deal is missing if intellectualism is the limit to the scope of your dealings with this individual. No, you have a much deeper relationship, one that involves intimacy.

To deepen your ability with writing, model your intimate life.

Write as if you were writing a sex scene-not the text of one, but the tremendous feeling of a sexually-charged encounter. Do not forbid your writing ability from having a fulfilling relationship with all your capabilities, no matter what label you give them, whether they are "dark" or "light." What matters most is your ability to be passionate and serve others. This takes continuous development and effort.

If you have integration of your sex drive which really just means your complete physiology, then you are a powerfully linked person who does not doubt the magic of creativity and imaginative connection.
